More Figures And a Horsehead

Long overdue figure work! The scanner didn't like me.

I was watching a video on YouTube of a Japanese guy dancing around in a horse head, so I paused it and got this pose. Cheers.

Run, Epona, run!

So one of my newer gods is Epona, Celtic goddess of horses! She lives with her older brother, Cernunnos, and her little sister, Artionis. Due to her long, gangly legs, she's a bit clumsy. She's also a total tomboy.

Epona is also considered a Gallo-Roman goddess, so I wanted to make sure she had a few throwbacks to them. I read that Gallic men lime-washed their hair and then combed it back to look like a horse's mane. Perfect! As she grows older, she becomes an untamed, wild teenager. On top of bleaching her hair, she'll also get woad tattoos, another nod to her Celtic heritage.

Birthday!

Today was my birthday! I apologize for being a ghost. I've been working on a storyboard, pumping up my portfolio site, and doing figure work to put on here. Here's a little gif I made to celebrate.

Goddess Doodles and Teachers!

Woo, it's been an exciting weekend! I doodled quite a bit. Here are Poli'ahu, the snow goddess, and Pele. I imagine they're embittered old rivals (even for little girls), and complete opposites. Poli is very polite and ladylike, whereas Pele is outspoken and a bit of a tomboy. I thought an amusing episode for my series would be the gang meeting Poli and instantly taking to her, causing Pele to be outraged!

Also, this weekend I visited my old first grade teacher. He is the coolest guy, and a great teacher, too! I remember in class we had table groups with little point systems; a brilliant way to get us to teach each other to behave. I'm stunned he and his wife still talked about me, but I was still touched. So I doodled him!

Female Figures

A few female figures this week. I've been playing with watercolors recently, so I gotta get back into the groove of them.

Chillin' in the woods

Sneaky little doodle of some new gods.

Brighton the Baker

I gotta say, out of all of these, I really like the last one. I like rough drawings more than polished-up stuff. Also sorry about being MIA!

Thesis, Part 1

Here's an influx of characters from my senior thesis. I developed a TV pitch for a cartoon show about a girl who babysits the children of the gods.  Along the way, she'd make new friends, learn about different gods and cultures, and avoid being fried alive. Here's part 1 of the main group of characters from the show.

Have I Got Doodles for You

I love "Have I Got News for You?", especially because Ian Hislop is such a character. I also love his beautiful ties.

More Figures and a Bit of Vis. Dev!

Sorry I was gone for so long. Here's some figure sketches (about 60 secs. on each one)...

... and a rough sketch of one of my characters! I've gotta flesh him out a lot more in terms of design and stuff.

Quick Little Figure Post

I've been doing some more figure stuff in a sketchbook, but it's hard 'cause the book is a bit small, and I normally work really large! Once I spray-fix 'em, I'll post them, too.

Spanish Dress

I think this was from sophomore or junior year? Can't remember. I do remember taking this picture with my phone, though, hence the sketchy quality. Tried to fix it in Photoshop.

Figure Work, Part 2

Here's some more figure work. The last two were done with pastels and white chalk.

Figure Work, Part 1

Here's some warm-up sketches from last semester's figure class. I showed these to Disney in my interview and they actually got a little mad. They asked me, "Why aren't you doing more of this?!" Sorry, guys!

I'll add more once my stuff gets shipped back home and I can take photos of them!

First post!

First post! So I'll probably upload a TON of stuff from my senior thesis, but here's a little doodle I did this evening, after finding some new Photoshop brushes.

It's Hachiman, the Japanese god of war and archery. He's based heavily off of Toshiro Mifune. I'll post all his info later when I get around to posting his stuff.
